Happy Birthday Naisa & Vince

On Saturday, July 26th, many family members joined Tolina & Taniela Tausinga in celbrating the birthday's of their two son's Naisa and Vince. Tolina is the daughter of Valu Angilau, Grandaughter of Sione (lahi) Katoa. So...Naisa and Vince are the great-great grandchildren of Semisi Kakapu & Suliana Fatai Katoa. The children had fun playing in a bounce house, having a water fight, and busting open a couple pinatas. Sorry I didn't get a good picture of Naisa or Vince. If anyone has one email them to me and I will get them posted.

Pioneer Day

In Utah we celebrate July 24th as Pioneer Day with a parade and lots of fireworks. Many family members camped out at Liberty Park and reserved a spot for the parade.

Following the parade there were lots of activities in the park including rides and bouncers for the kids, food, and concerts. That evening several of us got together in the parking lot of Joe and Tina's sandwich shop to watch the fireworks. We had a great view of both the Liberty Park and the Bee's Stadium fireworks.
Joe (left), Misi (center), Tim (right), Naisa (long hair), Sione (yellow) & Soni (bald) enjoy the show, but not having their pictures taken.
But little Joe, little Hema, and Isaac don't mind the camera...as long as we weren't in the way of the fireworks.

Happy 4th of July!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Independence Day. I am grateful to live in the United States and for the sacrifices our mothers and fathers have made to get us here. Remember that the 4th of July is also a holiday in Tonga as they celebrate the birthday of the late king Tupou IV. My family usually has tons of family stuff over this holiday but this year we just relaxed and enjoyed time with each other. We took our kids to the Freedom Festival in Provo, Utah. Little Hema enjoyed the parade from his seat on dad's shoulders. It was too crowded to push our double stroller around so we just squished the kids into one stroller...they didn't seem to mind. There was alot to do there but little Hema enjoyed the kiddy rides the most.

We ended the day by setting off our family fireworks and then enjoying the fireworks show by Thanksgiving Point which is only a mile from our house and we have a great view from our house.
